Follow these detailed instructions to get the most out of your Cursor Trail extension.
Installation Instructions
Visit Chrome Web Store
Open your Chrome browser and navigate to the Chrome Web Store. You can search for 'Cursor Trail' or visit the direct link from our product page.
The extension is developed by StickerMania and is completely free to install.
Click 'Add to Chrome'
On the extension page, click the blue 'Add to Chrome' button. A confirmation dialog will appear asking for permission to add the extension.
The extension requires minimal permissions and works entirely locally in your browser.
Confirm Installation
Click 'Add extension' in the confirmation dialog. The extension will be installed and added to your browser toolbar automatically.
Installation takes just a few seconds. You'll see a confirmation message when it's complete.
Verify Installation
Look for the Cursor Trail extension icon in your Chrome toolbar. It should appear as a small icon that looks like a cursor trail.
If you don't see the icon, click the puzzle piece icon in the toolbar and pin the Cursor Trail extension.
Activation & First Use
Open Extension Menu
Click on the Cursor Trail extension icon in your Chrome toolbar. This will open the extension popup window.
The popup contains all available cursor trail styles and settings.
Browse Trail Styles
Scroll down in the popup window to see all available cursor trail styles. Each style has a unique visual effect.
Styles range from sparkles and stars to colorful rainbow streaks and animated particles.
Select a Trail Style
Click on any cursor trail style that appeals to you. The style will be activated immediately.
You can preview different styles by clicking on them. The active style will be highlighted.
Test the Trail
Move your mouse cursor around any web page to see the animated trail effect in action.
The trail follows your cursor movements smoothly and works on all websites you visit.
Customization Options
Adjust Trail Length
Some trail styles allow you to adjust the length of the trail effect. Use the settings panel in the extension popup.
Longer trails create more dramatic effects, while shorter trails are more subtle.
Change Transparency
Modify the transparency level of your cursor trail to make it more or less visible.
Lower transparency creates a more subtle effect, while higher transparency makes the trail more prominent.
Switch Between Styles
You can change your cursor trail style at any time by opening the extension popup and selecting a different style.
Changes take effect immediately without requiring page reloads.
Save Preferences
The extension automatically saves your preferences. Your selected trail style will remain active across browser sessions.

Troubleshooting
Trail Not Appearing
If the cursor trail isn't showing, try reloading the page. Browser cache can sometimes prevent the trail from appearing immediately.
Press Ctrl+Shift+R (or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) to do a hard refresh.
Extension Not Working
Make sure the extension is enabled. Go to chrome://extensions/ and verify that Cursor Trail is enabled.
If disabled, click the toggle switch to enable it.
Trail Disappears
If the trail disappears, check if you've accidentally disabled it in the extension popup. Re-select your preferred style.
Some websites with heavy custom CSS might interfere with the trail effect.
