1. Introduction

Equalizer for Browser is a browser extension published on Cusmize.com. It enhances tab audio with a 10-band equalizer, volume boost, bass enhancement, and presets while you listen in Chrome. Install it from the Chrome Web Store.

This Privacy Policy explains what data the extension uses, how it is handled, and your rights. By installing or using Equalizer for Browser, you agree to this policy. Questions? [email protected].

2. Single Purpose

Equalizer for Browser has a single, narrow purpose that is easy to understand:

Equalizer for Browser lets you adjust the balance between frequency components using 10-band controls, with volume boost, bass enhancement, and audio presets for browser tab sound.

Volume boost and preset controls support this equalizer experience. The extension does not combine unrelated features beyond browser audio enhancement.

3. Information We Collect

Equalizer for Browser does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, browsing history, page content, passwords, or IP address through the extension.

3.1 Data stored locally on your device

  • Equalizer settings, selected presets, volume level, and other preferences you choose in the extension UI
  • Technical state needed for the extension to function, saved via browser storage APIs (for example chrome.storage) when applicable

Audio processing

Tab audio is captured and processed in real time on your device to apply equalizer and volume changes. We do not record, store, or transmit audio to our servers or third parties. Processed audio is discarded immediately after playback enhancement.

We do not collect:

account credentials, contacts, financial data, precise location, microphone input (unless you explicitly grant separate browser permissions outside this extension), or any data used for advertising, profiling, or credit/lending decisions.

4. Extension Permissions

Equalizer for Browser requests only the permissions needed for its single purpose. We do not request unnecessary permissions. Permission data is not sent to our servers.

4.1 activeTab

Permission: activeTab

Why we need it: Needed to get the tab on which the sound is played, so the extension can apply equalizer and volume settings to the correct browser tab.

4.2 tabCapture

Permission: tabCapture

Why we need it: Needed to capture sound from a tab so the 10-band equalizer and volume boost can process that audio stream in real time on your device.

Captured audio is not saved, uploaded, or shared. It is used only for live audio enhancement while you listen.

4.3 storage

Permission: storage

Why we need it: To save equalizer settings, selected presets, volume level, and other preferences locally on your device between browser sessions.

4.4 scripting

Permission: scripting

Why we need it: To register and run content scripts that detect and interact with audio playback on web pages so the equalizer can apply your settings automatically.

4.5 offscreen

Permission: offscreen

Why we need it: To create an offscreen document that uses the Web Audio API for real-time equalizer and volume processing. The service worker cannot use the Web Audio API directly, so a separate offscreen context is required.

5. Remote Code

Equalizer for Browser does not use remote code.

The extension does not fetch or execute JavaScript, logic, or configuration from remote servers. All extension code is packaged in the extension bundle submitted to the Chrome Web Store.

6. How We Use Your Information

Equalizer for Browser does not use personal data for analytics, advertising, tracking, profiling, or monetization. Local settings are used only to control equalizer bands, presets, and volume for tab audio you choose to enhance.

7. Data Storage and Security

Extension preferences are stored locally on your device when applicable. Audio streams are not stored. No equalizer or listening data is kept on our servers.

You can remove stored data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension data in your browser settings.

8. Data Usage Certifications

In accordance with Chrome Web Store requirements, we certify the following regarding user data:

  • We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, outside of the approved use cases defined by Google (for example, legal requirements).
  • We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose (10-band audio equalizer for tab sound).
  • We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

This extension complies with the Chrome Web Store Program Policies.

9. Cookies and Tracking

Our website may use cookies. See our Cookie Policy. The extension does not use cookies for tracking.

10. Third-Party Services

No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs are integrated into the Equalizer for Browser browser extension.

When you install from the Chrome Web Store, Google may collect information according to its own privacy policy.
