1. Introduction

Customize Scrollbar is a browser extension that lets you customize scrollbar appearance — color, width, style, shadows, strokes, hover effects, scroll buttons, and optional custom images — on websites you visit. Install it from the Chrome Web Store. Learn more on our product page.

2. Single Purpose

Customize Scrollbar has a single, narrow purpose that is easy to understand:

Customize scrollbar — change scrollbar appearance, color, width, and style on websites you visit, including optional custom images, shadows, strokes, hover effects, and scroll button styling.

The extension does not bundle unrelated features. All permissions and code support only scrollbar customization.

3. Information We Collect

Customize Scrollbar does not collect personal information such as your name, email, browsing history, page content, passwords, or IP address through the extension.

3.1 Data stored locally on your device

  • Scrollbar settings (colors, width, style, shadows, strokes, hover effects, button shapes, and related preferences)
  • Custom scrollbar images or assets you choose to use, stored locally when larger than typical storage limits
  • Other non-personal technical data required for the extension to function, saved via chrome.storage and related browser APIs

We do not collect:

account credentials, contacts, financial data, precise location, microphone or camera data, full URLs of visited websites for analytics, or any data used for advertising, profiling, or credit/lending decisions.

If you visit cusmize.com separately from the extension, our website may process limited technical logs under our general Privacy Policy. That website data is not linked to your in-extension settings.

4. Extension Permissions

Customize Scrollbar requests only the permissions needed for its single purpose. We do not request unnecessary permissions. Data from these permissions is not sent to our servers.

4.1 Storage

Permission: storage

Why we need it: To save settings — such as scrollbar colors, width, style, hover options, and button preferences — on your device so they persist between browser sessions.

4.2 Unlimited Storage

Permission: unlimitedStorage

Why we need it: To save larger custom scrollbar images or assets you upload or select, when they exceed normal local storage quotas. These files remain on your device only.

4.3 Host Permissions

Permission: Access to websites you visit (host permissions for browser tabs)

Why we need it: To apply your customized scrollbar styles on pages across your browser tabs. The extension injects styling locally; it does not read or transmit page content to our servers.

Note: Due to Google Chrome restrictions, customization is not available on some pages (for example the Chrome Web Store, Chrome settings, and other restricted extension pages). On other sites you can customize scrollbars as designed.

5. Remote Code

Customize Scrollbar does not use remote code.

The extension does not fetch or execute JavaScript, logic, or configuration from remote servers. All extension code is packaged in the extension bundle submitted to the Chrome Web Store.

6. How We Use Your Information

Customize Scrollbar does not use personal data for analytics, advertising, tracking, profiling, or monetization. Local settings and images are used only to render your chosen scrollbars on supported pages.

7. Data Storage and Security

All extension data is stored locally on your device. It does not leave your device for extension functionality. No user scrollbar data is stored on our servers.

You can remove stored data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension data in your browser settings.

8. Data Usage Certifications

In accordance with Chrome Web Store requirements, we certify the following regarding user data:

  • We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, outside of the approved use cases defined by Google (for example, legal requirements).
  • We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose (customizing scrollbars).
  • We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

This extension complies with the Chrome Web Store Program Policies.

9. Cookies and Tracking

Our website may use cookies. See our Cookie Policy. The extension does not use cookies for tracking.

10. Third-Party Services

No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs are integrated into the Customize Scrollbar browser extension.

When you install from the Chrome Web Store, Google may collect information according to its own privacy policy.

11. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Customize Scrollbar does not sell, share, rent, or disclose extension user data. The extension does not transmit your settings or images to third parties for extension functionality.

12. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
