1. Introduction

Welcome to our website. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how we handle your information. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data collection, use, and protection when you use our browser extensions, visit our website, or interact with our services.

By using Bass Booster Extreme or installing the extension, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

Bass Booster Extreme does not collect any personal or sensitive user datathrough the browser extension.

2.1 Browser Extension Data

  • The extension does not collect browsing history, website content, audio content, IP addresses, or user identifiers.
  • All audio processing is performed locally on the user's device.
  • Only user preferences (such as selected preset, bass level, volume, and theme) are stored locally using chrome.storage.local.

2.2 Website Data

When visiting our website (outside of the extension), limited technical data such as IP address or browser type may be collected for basic website functionality. This data is not linked to the extension and is handled separately.

3. Extension Permissions

Bass Booster Extreme requires certain permissions to function properly. This section explains each permission, why it is necessary, and how it is used. We are committed to transparency and only request permissions that are essential for the extension's core functionality. All permissions are carefully reviewed to ensure they are necessary and do not compromise your privacy.

3.1 scripting Permission

Purpose:

Register and manage content scripts for code injection into web pages

Usage:

Register content scripts to detect and interact with audio content on web pages

Rationale:

Required for the extension to work automatically on all websites

3.2 storage Permission

Purpose:

Save user settings (selected preset, volume level, theme)

Usage:

chrome.storage.local to save extension state between sessions

Rationale:

Saves user settings locally, without transferring data to external servers

3.3 tabCapture Permission

Purpose:

Capture audio streams from browser tabs

Usage:

chrome.tabCapture.getMediaStreamId() to get audio stream from active tab

Rationale:

Main functionality - processing audio from tabs to enhance bass

No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted. Captured audio is processed in real time and immediately discarded.

3.4 offscreen Permission

Purpose:

Create an offscreen document for audio processing

Usage:

The offscreen document uses the Web Audio API to process audio streams

Rationale:

The Service Worker cannot use the Web Audio API, so a separate offscreen document is needed

3.5 tabs Permission

Purpose:

Access and manage tab information

Usage:
  • chrome.tabs.query() - search for tabs with sound
  • chrome.tabs.get() - get tab information
  • chrome.tabs.create() - open rating/support pages
  • chrome.tabs.onUpdated - track changes to tabs
  • chrome.tabs.onRemoved - clean up resources when tabs are closed
Rationale:

Required to automatically detect and handle tabs with sound

3.6 Host Permissions

Purpose:

Access to all websites (matching pattern specified in the permissions and content_scripts fields of the extension manifest)

Rationale:

The extension requires access to all websites for universal work with audio content on any sites (music streaming, video platforms, online games). It is used to automatically detect tabs with audio and capture audio streams for bass enhancement. It does not modify page content or read personal data.

Note: This permission will likely require the host to carefully review your extension, which may delay publishing. We have ensured that only necessary permissions are requested, and unnecessary permissions have been removed.

3.7 Traffic Usage

Data Processing: All audio processing is performed locally on your device. The extension does not transmit any audio data, user settings, or personal information to external servers.

Network Usage: The extension uses minimal network traffic only for:

  • Initial extension installation and updates from the Chrome Web Store
  • Optional features such as opening support or rating pages (only when you explicitly click these options)

Privacy Assurance: No audio content, browsing history, or personal data is transmitted from your device. All processing happens locally, ensuring your privacy and data security.

Transparency Commitment: We believe in full transparency about our extension's permissions. If you have any questions about why a specific permission is required, please contact us. All permissions listed above are essential for the core functionality of Bass Booster Extreme and cannot be removed without breaking the extension's ability to enhance audio on web pages.
