Awesome Cursors is a browser extension that lets you change and customize your mouse cursor on websites - including choosing from ready-made cursors, uploading your own images (PNG, JPG, or via URL), and adjusting cursor size. You can install it from the Chrome Web Store. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data collection, use, and protection when you use Awesome Cursors or visit our website.

2. Single Purpose

Awesome Cursors has a single, narrow purpose - to change and customize your mouse cursor on web pages.

The extension does not bundle unrelated features. All functionality serves this one goal: applying your chosen custom cursor styles across websites you visit.

3. Information We Collect

Awesome Cursors does not collect any personal or sensitive user data through the browser extension.

3.1 Browser Extension Data

  • The extension does not collect, store, or transmit personal data, browsing history, website content, full URLs, page titles, IP addresses, or user identifiers.
  • All cursor customization is applied locally on your device.
  • Only user preferences (e.g. selected cursor, size, favorites, theme, and enable/disable state) are stored locally using chrome.storage.local.
  • If you upload a custom cursor image or provide an image URL, that content is used only locally to display your cursor and is not sent to our servers.
  • Settings persist after browser restart so you do not need to reconfigure them.
  • No data is transmitted to external servers.

3.2 Website Data

When visiting our website (outside of the extension), limited technical data such as IP address or browser type may be collected for basic website functionality. This data is not linked to the extension and is handled separately.

4. Extension Permissions

Awesome Cursors requests only the permissions necessary for cursor customization and saving your settings locally. No data is sent to external servers.

4.1 Storage

This permission allows you to save user settings, such as the selected cursor, cursor size, favorites, theme preference, and enable/disable state. Your settings are saved locally so you do not have to reconfigure them after restarting the browser.

4.2 Scripting

Allows the extension to execute scripts on web pages to apply your custom mouse cursor. This is necessary to dynamically display the selected cursor on pages and to ensure the extension works interactively and smoothly.

4.3 Host Permissions (Access to All Sites)

Allows the extension to run on all sites. This permission is required so that Awesome Cursors can apply your custom cursor on the websites you visit.

Note: Due to browser restrictions, the extension cannot apply styles on browser store pages (e.g., Chrome Web Store).

5. Remote Code

Awesome Cursors does not use remote code.

The extension does not fetch or execute JavaScript, logic, or configuration from remote servers. All extension code is packaged within the extension bundle. No "remote code" permission is used.

6. How We Use Your Information

Awesome Cursors does not use personal data for analytics, advertising, tracking, profiling, or monetization. The extension operates entirely locally and does not transmit any data externally.

Local settings are used solely to apply your chosen custom cursor. Website data (if visiting cusmize.com separately) is handled under site policies and is not linked to the extension.

7. Data Storage and Security

Awesome Cursors stores all data locally on your device (e.g. cursor selection, size, favorites, and theme settings). This data never leaves your device. Information collected through our website is stored with industry-standard security measures.

Only industry-standard browser storage APIs are used by the extension.

No user data is stored on our servers. No cloud storage is used by the extension.

8. Data Usage Certifications

In accordance with Chrome Web Store requirements, we certify the following regarding user data:

  • We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, except as permitted in approved use cases (e.g., legal requirements).
  • We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the operation or improvement of the extension's core functionality (customizing your mouse cursor).
  • We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

This extension complies with the Chrome Web Store Program Policies and Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies (detailed), including the User Data Policy and Limited Use requirements.

Our website may use cookies. See our Cookie Policy. The extension does not use cookies for tracking.

10. Third-Party Services

No third-party analytics or advertising services are integrated into the Awesome Cursors browser extension.

When you install from the Chrome Web Store or other browser extension stores, those platforms may collect information according to their own privacy policies.

Awesome Cursors does not sell, share, rent, or disclose any user data. The extension does not transmit any data to third parties.

We may share information collected via our website only where required by law or to protect rights.
