Description

This elegant cervid is a Sika Deer (Cervus nippon), a species native to East Asia. Its coat is a beautiful mosaic of browns, with a distinctive lighter, often spotted, pattern that provides excellent camouflage within the dappled light of its woodland and grassland habitats. The deer's large, expressive eyes are dark and alert, reflecting its perpetual vigilance for predators. Its upright ears are highly attuned to the sounds of its environment. This herbivore possesses a slender, graceful body and a compact build, allowing it to navigate through dense undergrowth with ease. The Sika deer is known for its social nature and is often seen in herds, with its white rump patch serving as a visual signal for others in the group.
