Description

This extension makes it easier to look up words in V S Apte's Sanskrit-English dictionary on the online portal https://www.sanskrit-lexicon.uni-koeln.de/scans/AP90Scan/2020/web/webtc2/index.php. It allows you to enter the full compound word you have in mind. The extension will suggest the correct headword in the dictionary under which your word is present. Motivation ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ To see why it's useful, consider wanting to look up the word सूक्ता. Is the headword सूक्त? सूक्तं? or सूक्ता itself? Actually, सूक्ता is under the headword सु. But now that we have this extension, you can stop worrying! How to use: ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ Go to https://www.sanskrit-lexicon.uni-koeln.de/scans/AP90Scan/2020/web/webtc2/index.php Below the 'Sanskrit word' textbox, we provide a new textbox called 'Autocomplete', as shown in the screenshot. You are recommended to simply type your word here (instead of in the 'Sanskrit word' textbox). Type in देवनागरी script. As you type, autocomplete suggestions will drop down. Navigate through the suggestions using the Up/Down arrow keys. Upon reaching the correct suggestion, hit Enter. Example: ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ You want to look up "गजानन". Simply type गजा... in the autocomplete box. Suggestions show up. One of them is गजाननः. Move to गजाननः using the Up/Down arrow keys. Hit Enter.
