Description

The Forbidden City, located in the heart of Beijing, is the world's largest palace complex, covering over 180 acres. Constructed during the Ming Dynasty in the early 15th century, it served as the imperial palace for 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. The complex is an architectural masterpiece with nearly 1,000 buildings, featuring traditional Chinese palatial architecture. It was named the Forbidden City because access was strictly limited; only the emperor, his family, and select officials could enter. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site and houses the Palace Museum, where visitors can explore Chinese art, culture, and history.
